Welcome to Truman State's
Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) and

The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML)

Grand prize winner at NORML's pro-cannibas
law reform ad contest

As informed college students, our goal is to raise awareness about the drug policies of the United States and to promote rational debate so our opinions can be heard and acted upon. Our organization does not condone the use of any illegal substances, rather, we seek to educate our peers and promote safety. We believe that the War on Drugs is currently harming Americans far more than the prohibited substances themselves. It is not only a never-ending monetary drain, it has also failed to secure its objective of eradicating (or even diminishing) drug use in the United States! SSDP lobbies against the draconian, discriminatory policies of the Drug War, promoting personal freedom and calling on history to prove that prohibition never works.

Our activities

Our activities include petitioning our representatives at the local, state, and national levels about pertinent drug policy issues, cooperating with other campus organizations in order to institute change, spreading information through tabling, chalking, posters and events, attending regional and national conferences where we hear speakers and receive advice and ideas, serving the Kirksville community, partnering with national organizations like Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP) and the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), and enjoying the company of friends who are concerned about drugs (legal and illegal) and how they influence our societ
